A SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT…
November 17, 2023
Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet is very pleased to announce that a member of the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office has been named the New Orleans Saints “FAN OF THE YEAR” for 2023. Detective Jonathan Matherne, a Special Victim’s Unit (SVU) Investigator, was named the recipient during a special ceremony held at Caesar’s Superdome on November 6th, 2023.
In 2005, at the age of 17, Detective Jonathan Matherne enlisted in the Unites States Army, where he honorably served for 8 years. In 2006, Matherne was deployed to Iraq where his mission was to accompany Special Operation Command, in support of various missions. During his deployment, Matherne was awarded the Join Service Commendation medal for his sustained acts of heroism and meritorious service. After returning from combat and serving an additional 4 years in the U.S. Army Reserves, Matherne joined the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office, where he has served his community for the last 11 years. During his tenure, he spent 8 years in the Patrol Division, achieving the rank of Sergeant, before being promoted to Detective within the Special Victim’s Unit (SVU), where he has served for the past 3 years.
Being named the New Orleans Saints “FAN OF THE YEAR” has many perks. Matherne will have the opportunity to attend various New Orleans Saints functions, along with a trip to the 2023 NFL Superbowl. However, Matherne’s goals are now set on a higher achievement…NFL Fan of the Year!
We humbly ask for your support in helping Detective Matherne achieve his goal by going to NFL.com -> Community -> Fan of the Year (also linked below) and vote for Matherne to be named NFL Fan of the Year at this year's NFL Honors Ceremony. Voting has already started and ends on February 7, 2023. You can vote once a day until the deadline. Thanks again for your support!
