SVU Detectives arrest a Thibodaux man in sexual abuse case

Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet announced the arrest of a Thibodaux man in connection with a juvenile sexual abuse investigation.  Michael Collins, 59, was arrested for charges of Molestation of a Juvenile under the age of 13, as a result of the investigation.


The investigation began on September 22nd, after the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division responded to a complaint and learned of the allegations of sexual abuse involving a juvenile.   Initial information provided to Authorities by the victim, identified Michael Collins as the perpetrator of the sexual abuse allegations.


TPSO Special Victim’s Unit Detectives were brought in to oversee the investigation, and after conducting the investigative process, Detectives confirmed vital information linking Michael Collins to the investigation.  Detectives of the Special Victim’s Unit located Michael Collins at his home, who was brought in for questioning.  During the interview, Collins denied the allegations made by the victim. 


Ultimately, Michael Collins was arrested and jailed at the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex on the charges in the case.  Collins remains incarcerated at this time on No Bond by local judges. 


Sheriff Soignet would like to commend the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division and the Special Victim’s Unit for the outstanding investigative work completed during this sensitive investigation.  As always, we ask for peace and privacy for the victim, and those affected by this investigation.

 

ALL ARRESTED PERSONS ARE PRESUMED INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY
