Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet announced the arrest of Houma man on charges stemming from a disturbance complaint investigated by the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division. Jared Anthony Rivere, 34, was arrested for a felony offense, as a result of his involvement in the investigation.
On December 8th, shortly before 9:00 pm, the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division were called to a business in the 1600 block of Prospect Blvd, in response to a report of a disturbance. When Deputies arrived, contact was made with the manager of the business, who told Deputies that a white male, only known as Jared, was causing a disturbance over a Door Dash order that was incorrect. The manager provided information that she told the male to leave the business, and she was calling the Sheriff’s Office, where the male indicated that he was a Sheriff’s Deputy. The male then departed the business in an SUV, white in color, which bared a resemblance to an unmarked law enforcement vehicle. The caller advised that when the male subject was leaving the parking lot, he used a loud siren from the vehicle, causing her to believe he was a Deputy.
TPSO Deputies continued to actively patrol the area in response to the complaint, and ultimately located a vehicle matching the vehicle description, in the Carriage Cove neighborhood, a short time later. As the TPSO Deputy continued his investigation, he contacted the male driver, who was identified as Jared Anthony Rivere. Deputies conducted a roadside interview, where Rivere admitted to being upset inside the business, and also admitted to saying he was a deputy of the Sheriff’s Office. A further check of the vehicle revealed that Rivere did have a siren installed in the vehicle and admitted to using it as he exited the parking lot of the business.
Deputies arrested Rivere a short time later on charges of Disturbing the Peace by Loud and Abusive Language, and False Personation of a Police Officer. Rivere remains jailed at the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex, on a $5,100 bond by local judges.
Sheriff Tim Soignet would like to commend the Sheriff’s Office Patrol, and K-9 Division for their work in this case. Sheriff Soignet said, “Our Deputies do an incredible job when dealing with the dangers of their day-to-day encounters. We work very hard at our agency to constantly improve our relationships with members of the community, and to have a person impersonate a Deputy of the agency will not be tolerated. I can’t say enough about how amazing our Law Enforcement officers are in this parish, and the level of safety they provide for our community.”
